About Us

AIM Electronics came into being in the summer of 1947, when Mr. C. A. Womack, owner of Womack Electric Supply Company of Danville, Virginia, and Burlington, North Carolina, wishing to expand into Eastern North Carolina, joined with Mr. R. S. Haire and Mr. W. H. Shepherd in forming Womack Electric Supply Company of Goldsboro, North Carolina.

The company located at 401 West Walnut Street began the business of distributing electrical supplies throughout Eastern North Carolina. The company was an immediate success.

In October of that year, Mr. Luther H. (Andy) Anderson joined the company as shipping and billing clerk. The company continued to grow rapidly and in the early 1950's as television and FM radio began to spread into the South, the company entered into the radio and television supply business.

A short time later, Mr. Shepherd and Mr. Womack divided the business with Mr. Shepherd assuming the electrical side, which eventually became Shepherd Electric Supply and Mr. Womack, the electronic side of Womack Electronics, Inc. Mr. Lee Clarke, office manager from Danville, Virginia, came to help Womack Electronics, Inc. with the separation of the two companies and later transferred permanently.

Mr. Luther Anderson and Mr. Lee Clarke had both purchased stock in Womack Electronics, Inc. so, along with Mr. Womack, they became the owners of Womack Electronics, Inc.

A new store was constructed at 106 N. Carolina Street and the business operated there until 1974 when a store was constructed at 411 E. Ash Street.

In 1978, Mr. Clarke retired from the company. In 1980, Mr. Luther Anderson, Mr. C. A. Womack and Mr. David Womack opened Womack Electric Supply in Goldsboro. Michael H. Anderson, son of Luther Anderson, who had been with Womack Electronics, Inc. since 1969 was sent to manage the electric business. In 1983, Mr. C.A. Womack and Mr. David Womack assumed the electrical side of the business with Mr. Luther Anderson taking the electronics side. In 1985, Womack Electronics, Inc. changed it's name to AIM Electronics Inc. In 1988, Mr. Luther Anderson retired and was succeeded by his son, Michael Anderson.

Michael Anderson is the President of the company and has been working in the company since 1969. Frank Ingram, Vice President and salesman has been with AIM Electronics Inc. since 1969. Karl Grider, Treasurer and sales manager has been with the company since 1976.

The electronics business has changed over the years and AIM Electronics Inc. has changed along with the business needs. Today we carry items from computer cables to television antennas and we distribute parts all over the country.
